The X-Caliber is a rethink of the plastic injection unit.
Ultimately it is the size that determines and add-on injection unit’s flexibility. The smaller it is, the more easy it is to integrate into a molding cell. This is especially true for mold mounting units, but also applies to molding machine mounted units where overhead cranes and part removal robots are competing for the same space above the press.
With this in mind, a priority was put on making the most compact injection unit without compromising performance. For this reason, the X-Caliber is the industry’s most flexible injection unit.
Injecting secondary shot material with a mold mounted injection unit allows for maximum manufacturing flexibility and minimizing valuable floor space. The mold, with an X-Caliber mounted injection unit, can run in any single screw injection molding machine with the entire assembly positioned inside the injection molding machine guarding.
Molding Machine Mounted
Vector is proud to offer the industry’s first transformable injection unit. Our X-Caliber add-on injection units can be mounted vertically or horizontally. This added flexibility enables you to future-proof your investment and gives you an advantage for your next project. This option is ideal for custom molders and trial shops. Horizontal mounting requires an optional stand and changeover from vertical to horizontal is approximately 2 hours.
Custom Injection Molding Machines
Vector’s Unity is a unified solution for highly specialized molding. Highly automated injection molding cells are often a patchwork of individual machines tethered together in a less-than-ideal manor.
Unity starts with a rethink of the injection molding machine. The most critical element for successful molding is tooling. With this in mind a Unity solution starts with the mold. The next priority is melt delivery; this includes the injection unit and runner system (hot or cold).
Starting with the mold design; machine constraints such as tie bars, machine guarding, open distance, etc are eliminated. Integration opportunities include: multi-material, insert molding, or post molding operations. Part handling, vision inspection, and packaging can be considered without any limitations. With molding, part acceptance, and part handling systems in place a Unity, pre-configured, motion and clamp system can be added.
Unity software controls and monitors all the functions of the molding cell including hot runner temperature control. Lot codes, serializing, and device history record information are generated and distributed by a single control system. Machine performance functions and diagnostics are similarly monitored remotely by Industry 4.0 or via OPC.
Vector Unity prioritizes tooling and melt delivery. Our open and configurable software platform controls all functions of the molding cell.
